Tarot Counselling
New Member special. Psychological Reading $15.00:
Just as with our dreams, the way I use the tarot for counseling individuals is that I use the symbols contained in the tarot as a representation of the unconscious self. The cards are archetypes. An archetype as explained by Carl Gustav Jung, is a potential for significance which is not under conscious control. As we become socialized, our
minds have become more rational and we seek to repress aspects of ourselves that we conceive as irrational, or not fitting in with who we think we need to be.
What is an Archetype?
An archetype is a prototype or a symbol that is universally recognized by all. In this way, it is similar to a stereotype. If we see a picture of a youth in baggy clothes and his hat on backwards, we may have ideas about who he is and the type of behaviors he may exhibit. If we see a picture of a smiling young woman who is heavily pregnant with her hand lovingly placed on her expanding stomach, we see “mother.” The tarot is made up of many archetypes, just like the young mother.

How can Tarot Counselling help me?
As small children, we are socialized to consider some aspects of ourselves as bad, and some as good. We tend to be good around the people who may punish us and bad around those who accept us and enjoy those aspects of us. However, good and bad is subjective. You may have got into trouble for getting your clothes dirty adventuring with your friends. You may have repressed this aspect of yourself. In your life today, you may be overly careful and never take risks. You may be in your comfort zone and fear doing anything outside of that. Some risks are good. If we never take risks, we begin to stagnate. I had to take risks to start dreamcatchercounselling.com. If I never took risks, I would not be doing this right now. I had to get out of my comfort zone.
So, when doing a tarot card reading, we can uncover some aspects of the self and reanalyze them in connection to your life right now. This gives you some insight into those repressed aspects. We all have the archetypes within us. We simply have forgotten how to get the most out of them.

How does this help me develop insight towards personal development?
The youth in the baggy clothes may represent things like “trouble, not caring about others, irresponsibility, wildness, no concern for the rules of society”. If you see a person and you put labels on them, especially negative labels, than you have repressed an aspect of yourself close to that archetype.
If you have strong feelings of resentment towards an individual due to a stereotype that you have associated with their dress, color, nationality or lifestyle, you need to look within. If that individual has done nothing personally to you, but reminds you of something negative, you have repressed an aspect of yourself. When we consider that good and bad is subjective, than something within this wild boy beckons you. Perhaps you have never been free to do what you want. Perhaps there has been pressure to achieve all your life. Perhaps you have been pressured to conform. You may not want to break the law or hurt anyone, but you may want to do something and not worry about what everyone else thinks about it.
If you can develop insight into yourself, you can begin to assess what you need and want out of life. Looking after your own needs, within your own boundaries, then assists you to make the most of your life. If much of who you are is repressed, you will live your life feeling frustrated and continually thinking 'there must be more to life than this."
How can this tarot reading really relate to me?
When you ask me for a reading, I will be looking at the reading in regard to the presenting situation in your life. You will need to tell me as much as you are comfortable with telling me about yourself. Tell me your story. I want to know about your mother, father, siblings, family life now and past. I need to have a rapport with who you are. I need the relational information, the thoughts and feelings. I want to know where you are feeling stuck. I want to know why you feel you are frustrated or hurt. The reading will then be directed towards your life right now. I do not tell the future, I look at healing the right now so that you can decide on your own future. Only you know your true answers, I can only assist by giving you some things to think about.
I may also give you homework. I may ask you to journal your thoughts about your reading and if you can sense how the reading and it’s discoveries may be restricting your life. Your life script is your own to write. Sometimes we need to just sort out what may be holding us back. The work you put into your life is the joy and balance you will get out of it.
